The Best Western Red Arrow in Montrose will be the Headquarters
for Rockies-Gold 2008, with the Comfort Inn and the Black Canyon Motel, being other accommodations for which WingNutZZ has
arranged special rates -- all of these accommodations are fairly close to the
Red Arrow. The Red Arrow is an outstanding facility, with a mix of
interior and exterior
corridors and with a large parking lot
area that will allow for some good "hanging" in the evenings -- this will also
be the location of our "Hanging at the Red Arrow" on Friday evening.
Even if you are staying at one of the other hotels, we
hope that you will come by the Red Arrow most evenings to meet more of your
forum friends. Each of these
facilities are Gold Wing-friendly, were used by folks attending Rockies-Gold
2007, and we had good feedback on each of them. Blocked rooms will only be
held until 30 April 2008.
Be sure and tell them
that you are with the
"Rockies-Gold" group
in order to get one of our rooms at our group rate listed below.
You must call to reserve one of our blocked rooms and cannot do it on-line.
Once you have made your
reservations, please go to the
"registration" page and
submit your registration for Rockies-Gold

4-8 June 2008
(Wednesday-Sunday, or whichever nights you desire; if you want a few more full
days for riding, then try to arrive on Tuesday or leave on Monday; the
negotiated rates are only good for the Wed-Sat nights, so other nights will be
at their normal or normal-discount rates)
The
Red Arrow is filled, so please make a reservation at the Comfort Inn or the
Black Canyon; if anyone cancels at the Red Arrow, it may be posted on the
GL1800riders forum, but do not call the Red Arrow as there is a waiting list of
about 35 attendees as of the end of March 2008, thus it is unlikely that you
will get in at the red arrow.

No special rates have been worked out with the following, but
they have been recommended by folks from last year.
America's Best Value Inn;
1417 E. Main
Street; 970-249-4507
Rockies-Gold Rate: Unknown, but generally
they have pretty reasonable rates.
Exterior Corridors, Pool, Free Continental Breakfast, High-speed
internet
Comments:
Reasonable prices, nice pool, no complaints
Super-8:
Clean rooms, reasonable rates, friendly staff; could cook your own waffles
on the patio, would stay there again; not great, but not bad; continental
breakfast better than average, but limited seating area; would not stay
there again as it had an old room odor; internet worked half the time;
as of 3/7/08 it appears
that the Super 8 has been sold and rooms will NOT be available for
Rockies-Gold. UPDATE 5/1/08:
The Super 8 is now a Rodeway Inn, part of the Choice Hotel chain and is
open for reservations (do not know if it has been renovated or not); 1705
E. Main St, 970-249-9294
Country Lodge:
Not fancy, but clean, quiet, and homey;
Hampton Inn:
Outstanding, great service, friendly desk folks, beautiful clean room; out
by the airport and no other motels close; a good ways from where everyone
else was staying; 2 miles from all the "action," but nice facility;
Cedar Creek RV Resort:
Great--no cons; short hike over to the HQ motel; highly recommended for those
with a motor home; ground and owners were first class
Montrose RV Resort:
Clean cabin, nice and quiet, shower and restroom 50 yards away, had to bring own
bedding, will stay at Red Arrow for 08
For those spouses who wish to attend but
who do not want to made a cross-country trip on the back of the bike to get to
Montrose, there are several options for flying-in -- check the flights to
Montrose. Montrose has a nice, small airport with several flights each day
via United Express and other "express" airlines. We received very good
feedback from those that flew directly into Montrose for
the 2007 gathering. Denver and Colorado Springs are also options, but
those are 4+ hours from Montrose, so that does complicate things somewhat.
